Witness appeal following attempted burglary in Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an attempted burglary in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at around 2.40pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024 that two men were trying to gain entry to an address in Great George Street.

When seen by a member of the public, the two men made off from the scene. Damage was caused to the door of the property, but it is not believed that entry was gained.

One of the men is described as wearing a black jumper with a white T-shirt underneath and blue jeans. The other was wearing a grey jumper and a light-coloured bucket-style hat. Both men had blue medical-style face masks on.

Police Constable Chloe Seaward, of Weymouth and Portland police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to identify the two men involved and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that might assist our investigation, to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the incident to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured the two men as described in the vicinity.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240092491. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
