Witness appeal following reported attempted robbery in Christchurch

Detectives investigating a reported attempted robbery offence in Christchurch are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Dorset Police was called at 10.13pm on Sunday 24 July 2022 to reports of an attempted robbery that occurred in the area of Dragoon Way. 

A 14-year-old boy was approached by an unknown group of people and demands were made for his mobile phone. During the incident the victim sustained a stab wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are not life-changing or life-threatening. 

Officers attended the scene and carried out a search of the area, but no one was located.

An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the full circumstances of what happened, and this includes house-to-house enquiries and CCTV opportunities.

Detective Constable Jonathan Sibert, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I would like to reassure the community that a full investigation is underway into this incident.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or saw anything suspicious, to please contact Dorset Police. I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured something of relevance on their home CCTV cameras or dashcam.

“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team are aware of this incident and will be continuing with their regular patrols and can be approached with any specific concerns.”
