Advice to public following garage break-in series in Poole

Officers are urging the public to remain vigilant and review their security following a series of garage break-ins that have occurred in Poole.

Investigations are underway in relation to five reported burglaries or attempted burglaries in the town between Tuesday 11 July and Saturday 22 July 2023, with offences having occurred in the Parkstone, Canford Cliffs and Branksome areas. On at least three occasions bicycles have been stolen from the garages.

Detective Inspector Jon Sainsbury, of the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET), said: “We are continuing to explore a number of investigative opportunities around these burglaries, including reviewing CCTV footage and attempting to trace the bikes that have been reported stolen.

“I would like to take this opportunity to urge residents to make sure they leave their garages secure at all times, so they are not an easy target for offenders, and to consider additional security such as home CCTV systems and alarms.

“I would also encourage members of the public who witness any suspicious activity to please report it to Dorset Police.”

Anyone with information about these break-ins is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230109882. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
