Appeal for witnesses following sexual assault in Poole

Officers investigating a sexual assault in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The incident occurred between 1.18pm and 1.45pm on Tuesday 15 August 2023 in Ashley Road between the junctions with Jubilee Road and Seaview Road.

The victim – a woman aged in her 60s – was walking along the road when the driver of a car pulled in front of her and blocked her path. He attempted to communicate with the victim, but she carried on walking.

It is reported that the man got out of his vehicle and sexually assaulted the victim over her clothing. She told the man to go away and he subsequently got back in his vehicle, where he made a number of further attempts to communicate with the victim before eventually leaving the scene.

The suspect is described as white with a very pale skin tone, around five feet seven inches tall and of very slight build with short cropped fair hair. He was wearing a dark coloured T-shirt with lettering or a design on the front and blue denim jeans.

The man was driving an old silver or grey estate car, which is described as similar to a Vauxhall Cavalier.

Police Constable Emily Clarke, of Poole police, said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim and our enquiries are continuing to identify the man involved.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened or has information to assist my enquiries to please get in touch.

“In particular, I would ask motorists who were travelling along Ashley Road around the relevant time with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check for any relevant footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230128867. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
