Appeal for information following incident involving e-scooter in Poole and Bournemouth

Officers investigating reported offences involving an e-scooter rider in Poole and Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 7pm on Saturday 6 June 2026 an officer in the area of Branksome Chine witnessed a Beryl e-scooter riding along the promenade with two people on. The rider appeared to be in possession of alcohol and they shouted at the officer as they went past.

At around 7.20pm officers in Sandbanks Road saw what is believed to be the same e-scooter with the occupants shouting and gesturing towards officers and members of the public.

They went to stop the vehicle and the person on the back reportedly jumped off and made off from the scene. The rider was stopped nearby and a 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

He was subsequently de-arrested and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Police Constable Mark Matthews, of Poole police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this matter and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any anti-social behaviour involving an e-scooter being ridden along the seafront in Bournemouth and Poole around the relevant time to please contact us.

“We take reports of offences involving e-scooters and other vehicles of this type seriously and will carry out a full investigation to ensure appropriate action is taken.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260083893. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
