Update – arrest in connection with reported robbery in Boscombe

A man has been arrested in connection with a reported robbery in Boscombe.

It was reported that between 8.30pm and 9.10pm on Thursday 10 March 2022 the victim, a local man aged in his 40s, was travelling along Sea Road when he saw a man he recognised called ‘Andy’ walking near to Sea Road Food and Wine. He turned his van around and pulled up to allow him to get into the front passenger seat so they could talk.

The victim reported that a short time later the driver’s door was opened and he was struck on the head with a baseball bat. The victim was allegedly then pulled from the van by two offenders and repeatedly hit while demands were made for money. A search of his van was also reportedly carried out.

It was reported that the offenders then attacked the second victim by hitting him in the face and striking him on the legs with the bat.

The victim’s mobile phone, wallet containing a debit card and £80 in cash was reportedly stolen from the van.

Following enquiries by detectives, a 28-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released on police bail.

Detectives are continuing to make enquiries into the incident, including making efforts to identify the second victim.
