Witness appeal following attempted robbery in Poundbury

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an attempted robbery in Poundbury.

It was reported that at around 9.30pm on Thursday 16 April 2026 a man aged in his 30s was approached by another man in Wessex Road, near to the junction of Oakridge Court.

The offender reportedly demanded that the victim hand over his phone and any other valuables.

The victim punched the offender in self-defence and left the scene.

The suspect is described as white, around six feet four inches tall and of slim build. He was wearing a tank top and navy running trainers.

Police Constable Edward Vaughan, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident, and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please contact us.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone who may have information relating to the identity of the offender.

“I would also urge any residents in the vicinity with home CCTV or doorbell cameras, as well as any motorists with dashcam who were in the area, to please review their footage from the evening of Thursday 16 April 2026 to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
