The family of a man who sadly died following a road traffic collision in Bournemouth have issued a tribute to their loved one.

At around 5.30pm on Tuesday 11 August 2026 a collision occurred in Belle Vue Road involving a silver Honda Jazz and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian – 84-year-old Peter Kegg – was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

Very sadly, Peter later died in hospital on Monday 24 August 2026.

Peter’s family have issued the following statement: “Dad was always a generous and caring person who would help anyone and made a big impact on all those he met. Our dad worked in the social housing sector, becoming one of the youngest directors of housing in the country when he was just 28 years old.

"By 1980 he was promoted further to director of housing, health and community services. Dad remained in this post until he retired having completed some 35 years in the housing department after an extremely successful and well-documented career.

“Dad was never materialistic or boastful, despite his successes, and treated every person he met with dignity and respect and I have been told on many occasion that he was a fantastic boss.  

"When he wasn’t working he was taking part in charity work for causes such as Habitat for Humanity and the local food bank.

“Dad had a passion for motorcars and loved to tinker with the engines. In his later life dad enjoyed spending time playing golf, tennis and walking football as well as spending time with the family in France.

"Everyday dad would walk around 10km to keep fit, clocking up some 3,500km a year which is just incredible. We couldn’t understand how he found the time to fit everything in but this is a testament to his hardworking and dedicated attitude to all things in life.

“Devoted husband to Sylvia and loving dad, grandad and great grandad to great grandchildren and one on the way. Dad will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”
