Arrests made after suspected cannabis found near Bridport

Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team located suspected cannabis at an address near Bridport.

Following information received, officers from Bridport Neighbourhood Policing Team attended an address in Bothenhampton at around 10am on Thursday 26 September 2024.

Around 300 suspected cannabis plants were located, as well as cannabis cultivation equipment.

A 17-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a controlled class B drug and released under investigation. A 21-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of the same offence and released on police bail while enquiries continue.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident, led by detectives from Dorset County CID.

Police Constable Paul Miners, of Bridport police, said: “We responded to information received, which resulted in us discovering a suspected cannabis factory.

“We will continue to do all we can to tackle the suspected supply of illegal drugs in our communities as we recognise the impact drug-related activity has on residents and visitors.”
