Update in relation to fatal road traffic collision in Bournemouth

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

A collision occurred at around 6.30pm on Saturday 11 February 2023 in Castle Lane West involving a grey Volkswagen Polo and a black Honda motorcycle.

A woman aged in her 40s from the motorcycle was very sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A man from the motorcycle was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. The female driver of the car was uninjured.

Following enquiries by officers, a 40-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and he has been released on police bail.

Sergeant Mark Burton, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who sadly died in this collision.

“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened are ongoing and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to please contact us if they have not already spoken to police.”
