Further arrest made following reported serious assault in Sturminster Newton

Detectives investigating a reported serious assault in Sturminster Newton have made a further arrest.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.54pm on Tuesday 30 September 2025 that a man had sustained suspected stab wounds following a reported assault at an address in Stourcastle in Sturminster Newton.

It was further reported that a woman had also been assaulted at the address, but had not sustained any serious injuries.

Emergency services attended and the male victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Sturminster Newton on suspicion of attempted murder and a 53-year-old woman, also of Sturminster Newton, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. 

The 18-year-old man remains in police custody at this time and the 53-year-old woman has been released on police bail.

Following further investigative work, officers have now arrested a 20-year-old man from Weymouth on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody at this time.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
