Appeal to identify witnesses following assault in Bridport

Detectives are investigating an assault in Bridport and appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

The incident occurred between 2pm and 5pm on Friday 10 October 2025 in the corner of the Rope Walks Car Park.

It is reported that a man aged in his 40s was assaulted by a man who is known to him. The victim sustained a stab wound above his eye and was knocked unconscious.

A member of the public intervened to separate the two men, causing the offender to leave the scene.

The incident was first reported to Dorset Police on Friday 17 October 2025.

Detective Sergeant Emma Swann, of Dorset County CID, said: “Since the incident was reported, we have been carrying out enquiries and speaking to the victim to establish what happened.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the member of the public who intervened as they may have important information to assist my enquiries.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage from inside the car park.”
