Witness appeal following report of assault in Upton

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a reported assault in Upton.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.39pm on Tuesday 5 November 2024 of an altercation involving a man and a woman who were believed to be known to each other near to a Volkswagen Transporter van in Sea View Road.

It was reported that the man threw an item – believed to be a mobile phone – at the woman, causing an injury to her finger before he drove off from the scene in the van.

Following enquiries, a 31-year-old man from Wareham was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Police Constable Michael Wells, of Dorset Police, said: “We are conducting enquiries into this report of assault, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses to the incident.

“I would also urge motorists who may have been in the area to please check any dashcam footage from around the relevant time period to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.

“I would like to make the same plea to residents or businesses in the vicinity with CCTV systems to review their footage for anything of relevance.”
