A man has been jailed after being caught with heroin and cocaine by officers during a week of intensification to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs.

Muhammed Esam, 26 and of Bournemouth, has been sentenced to two years in prison for drug offences.

On Thursday 20 February 2025, the defendant was detained by officers in the area of Meyrick Road after he was suspected to be involved in drug related activity.

Esam was searched and five bags of crack cocaine and four bags of heroin were found in his pocket, along with a mobile phone and £418.41 cash.

He was arrested and subsequently charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

The arrest was made during a week of intensification to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs under Operation Scorpion 11.

Esam pleaded guilty to the charges at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 27 March 2025.

He was sentenced at the same court on Wednesday 25 June 2025.

Police Constable Lewis Gravett, of Dorset Police, said: “As a result of our investigation, we were able to bring Esam to justice and take class A drugs off the streets.

“We know the impact that drug-related activity has on communities and we remain absolutely committed to doing all we can to prevent it.

“Operation Scorpion sees police forces across the South West collaborate to disrupt the activities of criminal networks operating in our communities and make the region a hostile environment for drug dealers to operate in.

“The latest week of intensification – Operation Scorpion 12 – ran from Monday 23 June to Sunday 29 June 25, with forces across the South West making further arrests and disruptions and resulting in significant quantities of illegal drugs being taken off the streets.

"If you would like to supply us with information or intelligence about suspected drug-related activity in your area, please report it to us at www.dorset.pnn.police.uk or call 101. If a crime is in progress, always dial 999.”
