Appeal for witnesses following reported assault in Wareham

Officers continuing to investigate a report of assault in Wareham are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that between 3pm and 5pm on Thursday 16 June 2022 a man assaulted a woman outside Sainsbury’s in South Street by throwing a set of car keys at her through an open car window, causing an injury to her eye.

Following enquiries, a 30-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and released on police bail.

Police Constable Liam Moss, of Dorset County CID, said: “I appreciate this incident was some time ago but from our enquiries we understand there were a number of people in the area at the time, including members of the public who came to the aid of the victim.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and would also ask anyone who was in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.”
