Arrest made following reported assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating an alleged assault in Bournemouth have made an arrest.

The incident occurred at around 11.30pm on Tuesday 12 July 2022 in Hawthorn Road. It is reported that a man approached another man – a man aged in his 20s – while in possession of a machete and assaulted him.

A male member of the public, who is aged in his 50s, reportedly intervened and sustained a stab wound. He was treated at the scene by the ambulance service.

Following enquiries, a 22-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
