Family tribute following fatal collision in Bridport

The family of a teenage motorcyclist who sadly died following a road traffic collision in Bridport have issued a tribute to their loved one.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.03am on Tuesday 7 July 2026 of a collision involving a white Mercedes-Benz A200 and a silver and blue Yamaha motorbike on the A35 Sea Road South.

The rider of the motorbike – 17-year-old boy Blayze Martin from Piddlehinton – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Sadly, he died in hospital on the afternoon of Thursday 9 July 2026.

The driver of the car involved in the collision – a man aged in his 30s from West Dorset – was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious. He has now been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Blayze’s family said in a statement: “Blayze was a beloved son to Hayley and Paul, stepson to Michael, brother to four younger siblings – two sisters and two brothers – boyfriend to Brooke and he was also a grandson and nephew.

“He was a keen motorcyclist and had loved motorbikes since the age of two.

“He had a large group of friends.  

“Blayze was able to donate his organs to help up to five other people live.”

The family will be announcing funeral details in due course, which they are planning to include a motorcycle escort for Blayze.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
