Update following reported assault in Boscombe shopping centre
Officers investigating an assault at a shop in Boscombe have made an arrest.
At 5.36pm on Thursday 11 June 2026, Dorset Police received a report of a disturbance at Lidl within the Sovereign Centre in Christchurch Road.
It was reported that two men had been challenged by a member of staff for their suspicious behaviour in the till area before one of them threw a food can at the staff member, who fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
It was further reported that the suspects then racially abused another member of staff before shouting a threat at another and then leaving the store.
Following enquiries by officers and a CCTV appeal, a 26-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault, threats to kill and a racially aggravated public order offence. He has been released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.
