Officers are renewing their appeal for information as they continue to investigate an attempted robbery in Christchurch and are issuing an image of a man they would like to identify.

At around 7.30pm on Thursday 30 May 2024 a 12-year-old boy was in Whitehayes Road in Burton when a man approached and grabbed him by his upper clothing, before attempting to steal his bike.

The victim alerted his father, who was nearby, and the suspect made off from the scene.

Police Constable Paul Humber, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would again urge any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“I am also now in a position to issue an image of a man we are looking to identify as part of our investigation and would ask anyone who recognises him to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240081093. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
