Officers are issuing images of a man they would like to identify following an attempted robbery in Bournemouth.

At around 1.40pm on Monday 6 April 2026 a man and woman aged in their 70s withdrew money from a cash machine in Christchurch Road.

They were walking along Annerley Road when a man approached and grabbed the female victim from behind and attempted to steal her handbag.

The male victim intervened and prevented the suspect from taking the bag.

Police Constable Lewis Gravett, of Bournemouth police, said: “Thankfully, the victims were not injured and no money was stolen.

“We are carrying out an investigation to identify the suspect and are now issuing CCTV images of a man we would like to speak to.

“I would ask anyone who recognises him to please get in touch.”
