Men charged in connection with report of attempted robbery at Poole store
Three men have been charged in connection with a reported attempted robbery at a convenience store in Poole.
Dorset Police received a report at 7.16pm on Thursday 30 July 2026 of an attempted robbery at the Premier in Sea View Road in Poole.
It was reported that two men in possession of a suspected firearm entered the shop and demanded money from the till.
It was further alleged that a member of staff was assaulted during the incident, sustaining minor injuries. The alleged offenders reportedly did not make off with any money.
Officers attended the scene and following fast-paced enquiries, three men from Poole were arrested in connection with the incident.
A 39-year-old man has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
Following further enquiries, he was also charged with robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in relation to a reported robbery at the Subway store in Ringwood Road in Poole on Monday 20 July 2026, as well as a charge of making off without payment in relation to an incident at St Peters Finger pub in Lytchett Minster on Thursday 30 July 2026.
He was further charged with making threats to kill and burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm in relation to an incident at a residential address in Ringwood Road in Poole on Thursday 23 July 2026 and an offence of affray in relation to an incident in Corfe Mullen on Thursday 30 July 2026.
A 40-year-old man was charged with attempted robbery in relation to the Premier store matter as well as robbery in relation to the Subway incident and making off without payment in relation to the incident in Lytchett Minster.
A 45-year-old man was also charged with attempted robbery in relation to the Premier store incident as well as making off without payment in relation to the incident in Lytchett Minster.
All three men were due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court sitting at Bournemouth Crown Court on Saturday 1 August 2026.
Detective Inspector Jon Sainsbury, of BCP CID, said: “Following the response from officers on the night and detailed enquiries by detectives, we have now secured charges against three individuals in connection with the reported robbery at the Premier store in Sea View Road in Poole.
“After further investigative work, we have also compiled evidence to link these men to other offences, which has resulted in further charges being brought.
“These matters are now subject to active court proceedings, and it is vital that the justice process is allowed to follow its course without prejudice. It would therefore be inappropriate for us to comment further at this stage and we would urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or commentary online, particularly on social media.”
