Witness and dashcam appeal following collision in East Dorset

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as they investigate a road traffic collision on the A31 in East Dorset.

At around 3.20pm on Tuesday 21 November 2023 a single vehicle collision occurred on the eastbound carriageway of the A31 near to the Coventry Arms pub in the Corfe Mullen area.

It was reported that a silver Ford Transit van had left the carriageway and collided with a barrier before coming to a stop in a stream by the side of the road.

Officers attended and there were no reports of any serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place as the vehicle was recovered and fuel was cleared from the road.

Police Constable Ashlea Gale, of East Dorset police, said: “This incident resulted in the closure of a major road and I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the closure.

“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the collision. I would urge any witnesses to the collision itself, or the manner of driving of the vehicle involved, to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from motorists who may have captured any relevant dashcam footage.”
