Alleged assault at pub in Wareham – witness appeal

Officers investigating an alleged assault at a pub in Wareham are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.25am on Saturday 27 May 2023 that a man had been assaulted in The Duke of Wellington in East Street.

The victim – a local man aged in his 20s – sustained facial injuries and attended hospital for treatment.

Following enquiries, a 22-year-old man and two 21-year-old men – all from Wareham – were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Two of the men have released on police bail and the other is released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Liam Sutherland, of Dorset Police, said: “I am carrying out an investigation to establish what happened and am keen to hear from anyone with information.

“There may have been a number of people in the pub at the time and I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police.”
