Prolific shoplifter jailed after targeting shops in Bournemouth
A man who breached his restraining order and stole from two shops in Bournemouth has been jailed.
Rhys Stephen Mansell, 38 and of Bournemouth, pleaded guilty at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 6 October 2025 to four counts of theft from a shop and four counts of breaching a restraining order.
In April 2024, Mansell was handed a restraining order at Bournemouth Crown Court with conditions not to attend any Co-op or One Stop shops in the county for four years.
Between Tuesday 8 July and Sunday 7 September 2025, Mansell was captured on CCTV entering Co-op in Charminster Road and One Stop in Ripon Road.
He was captured stealing various items, including alcohol and confectionary.
Mansell was sentenced on Monday 6 October 2025 to 12 months in prison.
Police Sergeant Jodie Manners, of the Retail Crime Team, said: “We are committed to targeting prolific shoplifters who cause the most harm to our business communities.
“Mansell has repeatedly ignored a restraining order in place and continued to steal from shops, which is completely unacceptable.
“I am pleased that Mansell is now serving time in prison and facing justice for his prolific offending.”
