A victim showed immense bravery in coming forward to report a rape that occurred at an address in Bournemouth.

The incident occurred during the evening of Tuesday 14 February 2023 at an address in the Queens Park area while the victim was intoxicated and unable to give consent.

An investigation was launched by detectives after the victim – aged in her 40s – came forward and reported the incident to police on Thursday 16 February 2023. Jarvis was swiftly arrested the same day and released on bail while officers reviewed all available evidence.

Stuart Jarvis, 47 and of Hackney in London, pleaded guilty to rape at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday 29 July 2024. He was sentenced at the same court on Tuesday 13 May 2025 to 7 years and 6 months.

Detective Constable Tasha Beaufils, of BCP CID, said: “The victim has shown immense bravery and courage by coming forward to report what happened to her and also for supporting our investigation and the court process.

“Jarvis chose to take advantage of the victim in an abhorrent way while she was intoxicated and vulnerable. Nobody should have to experience what she did and I am pleased that the defendant is now facing the consequences of his actions.

“We take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and would urge anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault to please come forward and report it to us. We always ensure victims are supported by specially-trained officers and will do everything in our power to identify those responsible and hold them to account.”
