Investigation update following death of man in Poole
Detectives have concluded their investigation into the circumstances of the death of a man in Poole.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.12am on Thursday 3 April 2025 that a man had been found unresponsive in a tent in a wooded area off Holes Bay Road.
Officers attended with the ambulance service and very sadly the man – aged in his 40s and from Bournemouth – was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, a 19-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The arrest was made to assist officers with obtaining as much information as possible, while providing legal protection to the individual involved.
The man was released under investigation as detectives from Dorset Police’s Major Crime Team (MCIT) carried out further enquiries into the incident.
Following an extensive investigation, which has included detailed toxicological and pathological submissions, there is no evidence to link the death to any criminal offence and the arrested man has been released from under investigation and will face no further police action.
The deceased man’s family has been kept fully updated with developments throughout the investigation and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.
The matter will now be the subject of inquest proceedings, and detectives will continue to assist HM Coroner as required.
