Witness appeal following reported robbery in Christchurch

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate a reported robbery in Christchurch – with two teenagers arrested.

Dorset Police received a report at around 8.40pm on Sunday 25 June 2023 that two 15-year-old boys had been assaulted by a group of other teenagers in the area of Christchurch Recreation Ground, near to Barrack Road, and their mountain bikes and bags were stolen.

Officers attended the scene and, following enquiries, a 17-year-old boy from Poole and a 16-year-old boy from Bournemouth were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Detective Constable Steve Davis, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are conducting a number of enquiries into this incident, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that could assist our investigation.

“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area of Barrack Road and the Christchurch Recreation Ground on the evening of Sunday 25 June 2023 to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230098718. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
