Man charged in connection with reported serious assault in Sturminster Newton
A man has been charged in connection with a reported serious assault in Sturminster Newton.
Dorset Police received a report at 4.54pm on Tuesday 30 September 2025 that a man had sustained suspected stab wounds following a reported assault at an address in Stourcastle in Sturminster Newton.
It was further reported that a woman had also been assaulted at the address, but had not sustained any serious injuries.
Emergency services attended and the male victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
Following fast time enquiries, officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Sturminster Newton and a 20-year-old man from Weymouth on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 53-year-old woman from Sturminster Newton on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
The 20-year-old man from Weymouth has subsequently been charged with attempted murder and assault by beating.
He was due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on Saturday 4 October 2025 and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 6 November 2025.
The 18-year-old man and 53-year-old woman have both been released on police bail as enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Darren Stanton, of Dorset County CID, said: “Following detailed enquiries, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution Service, which has authorised charges against an individual in this case.
“This matter will be subject to active court proceedings and it is vital that the justice process is allowed to follow its course. We would therefore urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or commentary relating to this case, particularly online and on social media.”
