Witness appeal following assault in Ferndown
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an assault in Ferndown.
At around 4.20pm on Thursday 17 September 2026 a 16-year-old girl was sitting on a bench by the bus stop near to Iceland in Victoria Road when a man approached her, having got off the number 13 Morebus, and began engaging her in conversation. He is reported to have made inappropriate sexual comments before grabbing the victim around the neck.
Another young female who was present intervened and the man got on the X6 bus.
He is described as black and around five feet ten inches tall. It was said that the whites of his eyes were yellowing and that he was carrying a beer can and smelt of alcohol.
Police Constable Matt Cutler, of East Dorset police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone who may have information regarding the identity of the man involved.
“I would also urge the young female who assisted the victim to please make contact with us so we can take your account.
“Finally, I would also urge motorists who were in the vicinity to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries.”
