A man injured in a serious road traffic collision in Poole has sadly died from his injuries.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.35pm on Sunday 13 February 2022 of a collision near to the junction of Station Road and Church Road in Ashley Cross.

A 32-year-old male pedestrian from Southampton suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. Very sadly, he died in hospital on Wednesday 16 February 2022. His family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Enquiries by officers indicate the collision also involved a silver Land Rover Freelander and a grey Nissan Pulsar.

A 41-year-old Poole man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A 79-year-old man from Poole is also assisting with enquiries and has attended for a voluntary police interview.

Sergeant Jay Griffin, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died at this time and we owe it to them to carry out a full investigation to establish exactly what happened.

“I would continue to appeal for any witnesses or anyone who may have captured anything relevant on dashcam footage to please contact us.

“We are still keen to speak to a potential witness who was driving a white hatchback, believed to be a Volkswagen Polo, that stopped to speak to another motorist at the scene.”
