Appeal for information following assault in Bournemouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate an assault in Bournemouth town centre.

At around 1.40am on Sunday 25 June 2023 officers attended Westover Road following a report that a man had sustained a facial injury. The victim, a man aged in his 30s, had been walking down the road when he saw a man who was in the company of two women.

The victim engaged the man in conversation, and he was then punched to the face, knocking him unconscious and causing him to fall to the ground.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to a fractured jaw.

The offender is described as having short cropped hair and was wearing a tight white top and dark-coloured trousers.

Detective Constable Laura Smith, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are investigating this assault and have conducted a number of enquiries. I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area of Westover Road during the early hours of Sunday 25 June 2023 to please check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230098377. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
