Appeal for witnesses following reported assault in Bournemouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a reported assault in Bournemouth.

At 10.19pm on Wednesday 16 July 2025, Dorset Police received a report that a teenage boy had been assaulted with a wine glass by another man outside the Nala Lounge restaurant in West Hill Road.

Officers attended and following enquiries, a 44-year-old man from Wantage in Oxfordshire was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

The victim attended hospital for treatment to a serious injury to his ribs.

Detective Constable Mohi Uddin, of BCP CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident to understand the full circumstances of what occurred.

“We know there were a number of people in the restaurant that night who may have seen what happened, and so we are keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to us.

“We would also ask any motorists with dashcams fitted to their vehicles, who were driving in the area at the time, to please review their footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance before getting in touch with us.”
