Officers from Dorset Police’s Roads Policing Team stopped a vehicle in Bournemouth and arrested a man after reports of the occupants acting suspiciously.

Dorset Police received a report at around 11.55pm on Wednesday 14 June 2023 of possible drug-related activity involving the occupants of a Jaguar XF in Castle Lane East.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended and stopped the vehicle nearby in Deansleigh Road.

Three men were detained for a search and one of them, a 21-year-old man from the West Midlands area, was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A quantity of suspected cannabis and nitrous oxide cannisters were located and the Jaguar was seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 for no insurance.

Police Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are committed to ensuring the safety of all road users and will target anyone who is suspected of driving while under the influence of either drink or drugs.

“We really appreciate information from the public and would encourage everyone to please report to Dorset Police anyone who is believed to not be driving in accordance with the law.”
