Update following reported theft in Shaftesbury
A man has come forward following a CCTV appeal in relation to a reported theft in Shaftesbury.
It was reported that at around 5pm on Wednesday 3 July 2024 a man approached a vulnerable man in the car park of the Tesco’s store in Christy’s Lane and asked to borrow cash to cover repairs for the victim’s car.
The victim was confused and reportedly went with the man to the cash machine at the store, where he withdrew £250 and gave it to the man.
The victim subsequently made enquiries with his garage, and it was reportedly confirmed that no cash was owed and the man involved was not connected to the garage.
Following enquiries by officers and a CCTV appeal, a man has now come forward and is assisting police with their investigation. No arrests have been made.
