Arrest made in connection with report of road rage and serious assault in Weymouth
A man has been arrested in connection with a report of a road rage incident that resulted in a serious assault in Weymouth.
Dorset Police received a report at around 9.50am on Saturday 17 August 2024 that a man had sustained injuries following an incident in Chamberlaine Road in Wyke Regis.
It is reported that the victim, a man aged in his 60s, was driving a black Audi A3 and was forced to stop suddenly to avoid a collision with an e-scooter.
The victim’s wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, pulled down her window to challenge the male e-scooter rider over his riding. He started becoming abusive and the occupants got out of the vehicle to speak to him.
The e-scooter rider then allegedly punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. He sustained a head injury that required hospital treatment.
Following enquiries by detectives and an image appeal, a 30-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
