Arrests following reported robbery in Bournemouth

Three people have been arrested after officers responded to a report of a robbery in Bournemouth town centre.

At around 7.50pm on Saturday 25 June 2022 officers from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET) were on patrol in the area of Lower Gardens when they were approached by an 18-year-old man who reported he had been robbed by three male offenders, who had grabbed him, made threats and stolen his bag.

Officers identified three suspects, who were reportedly detained following a chase.

A 15-year-old boy from Ferndown and two Bournemouth teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They have been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

The victim’s property was recovered and returned to him.

Sergeant Cameron Thompson, of the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole NET, said: “The NET supports local neighbourhood policing teams to provide an enhanced policing presence during the night time economy.

“We will do all we can to help to tackle reports of violent crime such as this and ensure those believed to be involved are identified and face appropriate action.”

As part of Operation Fireglow, officers from the local neighbourhood policing team (NPT) will be working with partners to provide an increased presence in the gardens over the summer months, while NPTs across the county are continuing to crackdown on anti-social behaviour as part of Operation Relentless.
