Update following serious injury collision in Purbeck

Officers are issuing an update as they continue to investigate a serious injury collision in Purbeck.

Dorset Police received a report at 6.49pm on Sunday 4 May 2025 of a serious collision involving a grey Honda motorbike on the A351 Wareham Road, near to the Blackhill Roundabout in the area of Holton Heath.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the motorcycle, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be life-threatening.

He remains in hospital receiving treatment, but his condition is no longer believed to be life-threatening.

Initial reports in relation to the incident indicated a red Honda motorcycle may also have been involved in the collision and, following further enquiries, a 55-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and released under investigation.

Following further detailed investigative work, officers have found no evidence to indicate the red Honda motorcycle was involved in the collision. The arrested man has been released from the investigation and will face no further police action.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team are continuing to carry out further enquiries into the circumstances of the collision.
