Appeal for witnesses to come forward following report of assault in Weymouth

Officers investigating a report of an assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday 26 October 2024 a woman aged in her 20s was assaulted by a man who was known to her while travelling in a vehicle, believed to be a black BMW 1 Series, in the area of Bowleaze Coveway.

It was reported that the victim was further assaulted after exiting the vehicle before three people, described as ‘young males’ came to her aid.

The victim received hospital treatment for injuries that were not believed to be serious.

Police Constable Joe Henderson, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the three young individuals who came to the woman’s aid in Bowleaze Coveway on the evening of Saturday 26 October 2024 as they may have important information to assist the investigation.

“I would also urge residents in the area with home CCTV systems, or any motorists with dashcam who were in the vicinity, to please review footage from the relevant time period to see if they have captured anything that could help us.”
