Man jailed for Poole burglary after fingerprints found at scene
A burglar who targeted an address in Poole while the occupants slept has been jailed after his fingerprints were found at the scene.
Oakley Coyle, 23, of Bournemouth gained entry to a residential address in Longfleet Road in the early hours of Sunday 16 February 2025 and stole a number of items including a PlayStation 5, related accessories and two kitchen knives.
The next morning, when the occupants woke up, they realised they had been burgled.
An investigation ensued and scene examination was carried out, with fingerprints found on the kitchen door identifying Coyle as a match. The PS5 was later located at an address in Poole and has been returned to the victim.
Coyle was arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the incident. He pleaded guilty to a charge of dwelling burglary and was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 14 August 2026.
Police Constable Ted Carlton, of Dorset Police, said: “Thanks to our enquiries we were able to recover the stolen consol and bring the man responsible before the court to face justice.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home. We fully recognise the impact that burglaries have on victims and remain committed to ensuring those responsible are held accountable for their actions.”
