Witness appeal following assault in Weymouth

Officers investigating an assault in Weymouth town centre are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 12.50am on Sunday 29 September 2024 an altercation occurred near to the junction of Caroline Place and Westham Road.

A man aged in his 30s sustained serious facial injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The offender is described as white, aged in his 20s, around six feet three inches tall and of medium build. He was reportedly wearing grey trousers.

Police Constable Mia-Isabella Bowditch, of Weymouth CID, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into this incident and we are exploring a number of active lines of enquiry to identify the offender involved.

“I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoke to police to please make contact with us.

“I would also urge any motorists who were driving in the area to check if they have captured any relevant dashcam footage and similarly I would ask residents in the vicinity to check any home CCTV footage from around the time of the incident.

“There will be an increased policing presence in the vicinity as we investigate this matter and officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
