Update following fatal road traffic collision in Bournemouth
An investigation is continuing into a fatal road traffic collision in Bournemouth involving a motorcyclist.
Dorset Police received a report at approximately 2am on Wednesday 9 April 2025 of a road traffic collision involving a black Range Rover and a motorbike in Moore Avenue in Bournemouth.
It was reported that the Range Rover failed to stop at the scene of the collision.
Very sadly, the motorcyclist, aged in his 20s and from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been kept updated as the investigation progresses.
Following fast-paced enquiries, two boys, both aged 17 and of Bournemouth, and a 36-year-old woman, also of Bournemouth, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have been released on police bail as the investigation continues.
A 38-year-old man from Bournemouth was also arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the motorcyclist during this difficult time.
“We have been carrying out a meticulous examination of the scene as we work to establish the full circumstances of what took place.
“I am continuing to ask anyone who has not already spoken to police and has information that may assist my investigation, or any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, to please come forward.
“We know the road closure has had an impact on the local community and we would like to thank the public for their assistance while it remains in place.
“We will be continuing our work over the coming weeks and I would like to remind everyone to allow us to carry out our enquiries and not to speculate or comment about the case as it may prejudice the investigation.”
