Update – man charged following reported assault in Bournemouth
A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with a reported assault in Bournemouth town centre.
Dorset Police received a report at 6.31pm on Monday 29 April 2024 of an assault in the Lower Gardens.
It was reported that two men – aged in their 30s and 40s – were assaulted with a glass bottle, causing facial injuries. They were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.
Officers attended and a man was arrested in connection with the matter. During the incident, a police officers reportedly sustained a minor injury to their hand.
Following enquiries by detectives from BCP CID, a 23-year-old man of no fixed abode has been charged with two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent as well as offences of assault by beating, assaulting an emergency worker and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 1 May 2024.
