Witness and dashcam appeal following road traffic collision in Bournemouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.44am on Wednesday 24 June 2026 of a road traffic collision involving an e-scooter and taxi in Wimborne Road in Bournemouth, near to the junction with Talbot Road.

Officers attended alongside the ambulance service.

The rider of the e-scooter, a 21-year-old man from Bournemouth, was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening. His next of kin has been informed.

A road closure was put in place to allow for a detailed examination of the scene to be carried out.

Inspector Lee Turner, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle immediately prior to it and has not yet spoken to officers, to please get in touch with us. If you captured anything of relevance on dashcam, please also come forward.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
