Update in relation to serious injury collision in Dorchester

A man who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Dorchester has very sadly died.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.35am on Friday 16 May 2025 of a collision in Bridport Road involving a white Fiat Panda and a bicycle.

Emergency services attended and the cyclist – a man aged in his 50s – was taken to Southampton Hospital in a serious condition.  

Very sadly, he died in hospital on the evening of Saturday 17 May 2025. His family has been informed.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died following this collision.

“We owe it to them to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, who has not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.”
