Burglary in Poole – witness appeal

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a burglary at a home in Poole.

Dorset Police received a report at 1.26pm on Saturday 1 June 2024 of an alarm sounding at an address in Herbert Avenue.

It was reported that a man was seen jumping over a fence and making off from the scene toward Rossmore Leisure Centre. He is described as white with dark hair and a beard, and was wearing a woollen jumper and jeans.

It was subsequently discovered that entry had been forced to the address, although it is not confirmed if anything has been stolen at this time.

Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, but the offender was not located.

Sergeant Sam Kinsella, of Poole police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this burglary and I am keen to hear from anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.

“This incident occurred on a busy road during the day and I would urge any witnesses, or any motorists who may have captured any relevant dashcam footage, to please contact us.

“I would also ask residents in the area with home CCTV or doorbell cameras to please review their footage for anything that might help our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240081997. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
