Update – man due in court in connection with alleged assault in Sherborne
A man is due to appear in court in connection with an alleged assault at a rugby match in Sherborne.
It was reported that at around 3.30pm on Saturday 4 March 2023 a male rugby player was assaulted during the first half of a match between Sherborne RFC and Wellington RFC at the Terrace Playing Fields.
The victim attended hospital for treatment, where it was found he had sustained fractures to his eye socket and cheek bone.
Following enquiries, a 26-year-old man from Devon attended for a voluntary police interview and he has now been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 21 February 2024 for an offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
