Appeal after driver reportedly failed to stop for officers in Christchurch
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward after a driver reportedly failed to stop for officers in Christchurch.
Dorset Police received a report at around 12.10am on Wednesday 19 July 2023 of a vehicle acting suspiciously in Highcliffe Cliff Top car park.
As officers entered the car park, it is alleged that the vehicle – a silver Renault Clio – made off at speed and failed to stop for officers.
It is reported that the vehicle subsequently travelled along Waterford Road, Montagu Road, Mill Lane, Lymington Road, Chewton Common Road, Braemar Road, Pinewood Road, Amberwood Road, Ringwood Road, Elphinstone Road, Lyndhurst Road, Station Road, Hinton Wood Avenue, Castle Avenue and Gordon Road.
Subsequently, a 21-year-old man from Christchurch was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
Police Constable Mark Burton, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am carrying out enquiries into this incident and would ask anyone who saw what happened to please come forward.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who was driving in any of the roads mentioned and has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check for any relevant footage.
“Similarly, I am keen to hear from any residents in the vicinity with home CCTV systems if they have any footage to assist my enquiries.”
