Witness appeal following reported assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating a report of an assault at a music venue in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It was reported that at around 9.45pm on Friday 28 April 2023 a man aged in his 40s was assaulted during an event at the O2 Academy in Christchurch Road. He sustained a serious injury to his ear and attended hospital for treatment.

Following enquiries, a 45-year-old man from Fareham in Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Neil Jones, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on mobile phone footage.”
