Two people arrested following reported serious assault in Sturminster Newton

Two people have been arrested following a reported serious assault in Sturminster Newton.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.54pm on Tuesday 30 September 2025 that a man had sustained suspected stab wounds following a reported assault at an address in Stourcastle in Sturminster Newton.

It was further reported that a woman had also been assaulted at the address, but had not sustained any serious injuries.

Emergency services attended and the male victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Following fast time enquiries, officers have arrested an 18-year-old man from Sturminster Newton on suspicion of attempted murder and a 53-year-old woman, also of Sturminster Newton, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. 

Detective Inspector Darren Stanton, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to conduct detailed enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“There will be increased police activity in the area as our investigation continues and we would encourage anyone with any information or concerns to please speak with an officer.”
