Appeal for witnesses following reported assault in Bridport
Detectives investigating a reported assault in Bridport are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 11.45am on Saturday 5 July 2025 of an assault involving two men outside Co-op in Sea Road North.
It is reported that one of the men – a local man aged in his 50s – sustained a serious injury to his leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 22-year-old man from the Bridport area was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and taken to receive treatment for a minor injury. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
The two men are believed to be known to each other.
Detective Sergeant Jo Blackmore, of Dorset County CID, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to please contact Dorset Police.”
